The Finnish Border Guard invites researchers, experts and stakeholders to submit abstracts to the Arctic Coast Guard Seminar 2019 organized in Turku, Finland on 4−5 April 2019. The seminar will cover themes connected to coast guard functions in the Arctic area, such as Search and Rescue, Environmental Response, and Education, Research and Development.

The Arctic Coast Guard Seminar 2019 consists of three individual sessions:

  1. Arctic Search and Rescue (SAR)
  2. Environmental Response in Arctic Areas
  3. Arctic Coast Guard Education, Research and Development

The organizers are looking to receive contributions on subthemes connected to the sessions, such as:

  • Emerging technologies and innovations
  • Public-private partnerships
  • E-learning tools
  • Exercise and training procedures
  • Risk assessment tools
  • Mass rescue operation (MRO) procedures
  • Disaster management and evacuation procedures
  • Legal perspectives of Coast Guard functions

  • Abstracts have to be submitted online exclusively
  • Deadline for abstract submission is 9 January 2019
  • The language of submission and presentation is English
  • Participants can present one topic at most
  • Length of abstract should be approx. 250 words
  • All received submissions will be confirmed by email
  • Notification of acceptance/refusal will be sent by 15 January 2019
